Wedding Venue:
The three most important rules are location, location, and location.

The perfect day deserves a perfect setting - and I can't imagine a better place than the Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art  situated in the middle of Dallas' Arts District. It's like having Japan, China, India and Southeast Asia in the heart of the city.

More than a Museum

Exhibiting works of art from Japan, China, India and Southeast Asia, the Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art offers visitors a peaceful world of beauty and spirituality right in the middle of Downtown. Because many objects now considered "art" were created for religious purposes, many of the pieces in the permanent collection represent deities from various religions, including Buddhism, Confucianism, Hinduism and Jainism. Some works of art, dating from 3500 B.C. to the early 20th century, include precious jade ornaments from China, delicate Japanese scrolls and a rarely seen 28-foot by 12-foot sandstone facade of an 18th century Indian residence.

The Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection also provides workshops and programs designed to meet your needs, whether it's for your kids, family, out-of-town guests or professional organization.

And their Special Exhibitions bring the best of the East and around the World right to your doorstep.

The Collection
Arts of China

The Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art focuses primarily on works from China’s last empire, the Qing dynasty (1644-1911), the largest, richest, and most populous empire of its time, in which the arts flourished under imperial patronage. In addition to a large collection of carved Qing period jade, the collection features paintings, sculptures, porcelains, and decorative and ritual items in lacquer, ivory, rhinoceros horn, rock crystal, and glass.
Jade

Jade has been in continuous use in China for nearly 7, 000 years. It is one of the most treasured and admired materials in Chinese culture, discussed in philosophical texts in order to describe the qualities of the ideal person. During the Qing dynasty (1644-1911), jade artistry reached its highest level of refinement. The Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection includes jades ranging in six and importance from small hairpins to massive throne screens.
Japan

The first floor of The Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection is devoted to the art of Japan. Displayed in these galleries are Japanese scrolls and screens representing some of the major painting styles of Japan as well as objects in rock crystal, lacquer, ceramics, and bronze. Regular changing exhibitions of Japanese art provide visitors with an opportunity to experience a wide variety of spectacular works created over the centuries.
India and Southeast Asia

India is the birthplace of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. Gallery III features religious sculptures, including a monumental stone head of a bodhisattva that demonstrate the Greco-Roman influence on Buddhist sculpture. Hindu sculptures include representations of popular deities such as Ganesha, the elephant-headed son of Shiva, who is revered as the Remover of Obstacles.
The Lotus Shop

And if you ever need that perfect gift and have run out of ideas or imagination, you'll find a selection of the most popular items from our museum in the Lotus Shop - which offers a diverse assortment of unique and wonderful merchandise.
